We are looking for fair travel packages!
fairwärts – the competition for sustainable travel – entered its third round from November 2019 until February 2020. This time, the competition focuses on biodiversity, sustainable service chain and fair encounters. An important component of the competition for german tourism companies are specially created knowledge modules on each key topic, which are freely available to all interested parties.
Those who make it possible
For the main topics & competition categories we have got support this time from the experts of Global Nature Fund, ServiceQualität Deutschland and the Studienkreis für Tourismus und Entwicklung.
The fairwärts project is financially supported by Engagement Global, an initiative of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
The activities are carried out by kate Umwelt & Entwicklung e.V. and TourCert as partners in sustainable tourism. The knowledge modules were funded by the Protestant Church Development Service.
Our aim – promote innovation in the three thematic areas
When it comes to sustainability and responsibility towards the environment and the people involved in the destinations, tourism has a special role to play. Species-rich and intact ecosystems with impressive landscapes and high biodiversity are often the main reasons why travellers visit a particular region.
The tourism industry can support conservation measures and become active. It is also up to tourism companies to promote understanding and intercultural tolerance between communities through fair encounters between travellers and local people. Ideally, the individual sustainability measures are thought through along the entire service chain. Only with the commitment of all those involved and innovative ideas tourism can be made fit for the future.
„Be the change you want to see in the world.“

This is exactly where we want to start with fairwärts!
Our education and competition format invites german tourism companies and travel enthusiasts to deal with the topics of biodiversity, service quality & sustainability as well as human rights and tolerance while travelling.
We have created exciting and practical e-learnings (in german) that help employees of tourism companies, in particular, to learn about sustainability issues in a simple and uncomplicated way at work.
We go fairwärts!
The next application deadline for tour operators, destinations and accommodations registered in Germany to apply with their sustainable travel offers at fairwärts will be announced soon. This is the way to go! We will keep you updated on the next stages of the competition on this website and via Facebook.
