Milestones in sustainable tourism
TourCert is making major strides in community-based and voluntourism
Climate protection has been a key focus at TourCert from the very beginning. Beyond the environmental dimension, we are equally aware that socio-economic impacts such as poverty reduction and income generation must also be part of the conversation.
We aim to strengthen the positive impacts of tourism in Latin America: our Turismo Comunitario project in Ecuador powerfully demonstrates what women’s empowerment can achieve in the communities of Amupakin and Sinchi Warmi.
TourCert stands for empowerment
Building on our success in Latin America, we are now expanding into Africa
Uganda is known for its stunning landscapes, unique biodiversity, and rich cultural heritage. Through our Tourism Excellence Uganda project, we aim to support and preserve this remarkable country in East Africa.
We are delighted about the successful completion of our TourCert Latina project. With support from the Austrian Development Agency, we were able to establish independent training and certification structures in Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, and Costa Rica within just four years.
10 years of TourCert – a look back
Take only memories, leave only footprints
TourCert was founded in Germany ten years ago and has since developed into a diverse and internationally active organization. We celebrated this milestone at ITB in Berlin in early March and took the opportunity to reflect on our journey.
Since our founding, we have welcomed more than 300 companies into the TourCert community. We are also pleased to warmly welcome our newest members.
Looking back
But above all, looking ahead. Exciting new projects and much more to come!
We hope you have had a great start to the new year, perhaps with both personal and professional resolutions: embracing new challenges, maintaining relationships, and achieving a healthy work-life balance. At TourCert, we feel the same way. There is much to be done, and we are looking forward to new projects and challenges.
We wish you every success and enjoyment in bringing your plans to life!
