Empowerment and Binding Standards for Sustainable Development
We inspire, guide and certify tourism businesses and destinations on their journey toward a future viable economic model. To this end, we develop practice oriented management concepts and methodologies that support the creation of sustainable businesses and destinations. We provide systematic support throughout the entire sustainability process from strategy development to practical implementation.
Our sustainability criteria and certification standards are rigorous, internationally recognized and designed to foster holistic and genuinely long term organizational development.

Change begins with the first step. We meet businesses where they are, motivating and equipping them to take manageable actions and encouraging a consistently responsible way of operating.
Through national and international projects, we bring sustainability into sharper focus for tourism stakeholders and work with you to promote sustainable development worldwide. With our expertise in sustainability and tourism, we enable the practical implementation of binding environmental and social standards.
The companies and destinations we certify set a benchmark in sustainability, serving as pioneers and demonstrating viable pathways to achieve the global Sustainable Development Goals of the UN 2030 Agenda.
What We Do
Our Services in Tourism
TourCert advises and supports tourism businesses and destinations in implementing a sustainable and successful way of operating.
TourCert equips stakeholders with expertise in sustainable tourism through consultations, seminars, and online trainings.
TourCert certifies and awards the TourCert Seal for sustainability and corporate responsibility in tourism. As a first step toward sustainability, TourCert also offers the introductory sustainability qualification, TourCert Qualified.
Partnership
With personal commitment and mutual support, we work on an equal footing with our TourCert Community, which includes businesses, destinations, partners, consultants, auditors, members of the certification council, employees, shareholders, as well as travelers and the general public.

Quality and Sustainability
Recognized and Validated Multiple Times
Since May 2023, we have been validated under the EMASplus sustainability management system.
Because we hold ourselves to the same high standards as we do our clients, EMASplus has enabled us to conduct a comprehensive analysis of our business operations, processes, and environmental impacts, allowing us to set concrete goals and develop targeted improvement measures.
This validation gives our clients the confidence that they are partnering with a sustainability-oriented and environmentally responsible organization.
EMASplus underscores our commitment to sustainability and responsible practices while ensuring a continuous improvement process at TourCert.
All of TourCert’s criteria catalogs are based on international quality and environmental management standards according to ISO and EMAS, as well as the ISO guidance on social responsibility (ISO 26000). The standards for hotels, tour operators, and destinations are recognized by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council, and our other standards follow the international regulations of the TSCA.

TourCert Meets Travalyst Criteria
TourCert has been independently assessed and meets the criteria set by Travalyst. Since August 2024, we have been among the first 49 certified companies and organizations. This recognition highlights our commitment to greater transparency and credibility in the travel industry.
Founded by Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, Travalyst brings together some of the largest brands in the travel and technology sectors to promote unified sustainability standards. Its goal is to support certifications in a developing regulatory landscape while ensuring consistency and trust across travel booking platforms.

TourCert Is Growing Worldwide
Operating Internationally for You
In addition to our TourCert locations in Germany, we are continually expanding the TourCert system to other countries and adapting it to local needs — currently with a focus on Latin America and Europe, for example through TourCert Switzerland and TourCert Austria.
We also collaborate with preferred partners who help establish the principles of sustainable tourism in their respective countries. This allows our community to grow steadily and increasingly influence the travel industry.
Every year, TourCert participates in renowned international trade fairs such as the ITB in Berlin, and since 2018 we have been a partner for sustainable tourism at the Fair Handeln trade fair in Stuttgart.
Through these international projects, we increasingly reach the entire tourism value chain and are proud of a broad community that shares and supports our values as passionately as we do.
