TourCert Danube

The Danube region is gaining momentum

We were able to implement the TourCert Danube project from 2016 to 2020 thanks to funding from the German Federal Environmental Foundation (DBU). The project included a comprehensive action plan designed to support tourism businesses throughout the beautiful Danube region in developing more sustainable offerings. Ecosystem Europe served as the local initiator and cooperation partner in carrying out the project activities.

Our Goal: Laying the Foundations

Taking local and national characteristics into account, we aim to promote sustainable tourism development and environmental responsibility. The creation of an innovative storytelling platform is intended to generate direct added value for the commitment of the participating businesses. In addition, a systematic sustainability assessment enables companies to quickly identify areas for improvement. Our goal is also to build a network that fosters exchange and collaboration among tourism stakeholders.

“When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.”

Building Quality and Expanding the Network

The TourCert community thrives on an international network. Our goal is to create an online platform for exchanging experiences and sharing best practices. In addition, we are planning delegation trips to actively foster networking.

Enhancing Visibility

We are developing and delivering a platform for storytelling and sales support. Newsletters, social media activities, a cross-country image brochure, and media partnerships with industry publications and events help drive the project forward.

Who Is It For?

Small and medium-sized tourism businesses can take part, including tour operators, travel agencies, hotels, incoming agencies, as well as tourism associations and DMOs. One point is especially important to us: we actively involve both employees and business partners in the process.
