Through comprehensive insights into consulting and management processes, we prepare you to advise businesses and destinations, support sustainability managers on their path toward more sustainable operations, and deliver your own trainings and workshops.

Choose your focus

Whether you want to work as a coach or auditor and develop a new professional field, this course covers both areas. You will gain hands-on experience with all the essential tools required to support the implementation of sustainability management systems and/or to conduct external audits for certification.

This three-day course is structured into three modules:
Module 1: Introduction to Sustainability in Tourism

  • How can the SDGs be applied to tourism?
  • What standards and certifications exist?
  • What does sustainable corporate management look like?
  • How is a sustainability management system structured?
  • What are sustainability criteria?
  • What tools are available to measure sustainability?

Module 2: Sustainability Coach
  • What are the requirements for a sustainability coach?
  • How can sustainability managers in destinations, accommodations, or tour operators be effectively guided toward certification?
  • Which tools are available throughout the process?
  • How can businesses and destinations be supported in stakeholder analysis? What dialogue tools are available?
  • What does the consulting process look like for destinations and companies?
  • How is an environmental site inspection conducted?
  • And more
Module 3: Auditor
  • What is the role of an auditor in the certification process?
  • Which methodologies are used to conduct audits?
  • What are the requirements for auditors?
  • What are the international standards for auditing?
  • What are the key elements of reporting?
  • And more

Target group:

This training is designed for professionals and consultants in the tourism sector and in the field of sustainable business, with strong advisory and communication skills and at least three years of professional experience.

The seminar is structured over three days, with seven hours of training per day.

Course fee

The course fee is €1,250.00 (exempt from VAT in accordance with § 4 No. 22 German VAT Act)

Travel and accommodation costs are not included.

Minimum number of participants

This course will take place with a minimum of 8 participants. If the required number of registrations is not reached three weeks prior to the start date, we reserve the right to cancel or postpone the event. In such cases, all participants will be informed in due time and any fees already paid will be fully refunded.

The trainers

Get to know us

Angela Giraldo

Angela Giraldo heads the Consulting and Training division at TourCert. Born in Cali, Colombia, and holding Peruvian citizenship, she has lived in Germany since 1981. She holds a degree in Business Administration and Public Relations. Early in her career, she led study tours to Latin America, worked as an evaluator in development cooperation, and served as a speaker at international conferences. Her current work focuses on advising tourism companies and projects in Europe and Latin America, with a strong emphasis on socially and environmentally responsible tourism. She has been involved from the outset in developing the CSR certification system in tourism and in founding TourCert.

Günter Koschwitz

As Head of Audit & Development, Günter Koschwitz is an expert in audits and the assessment of CSR certifications in tourism. He holds a degree in Business Administration and has been involved as a shareholder in the development of TourCert GmbH from the very beginning. With more than 30 years of experience in development cooperation and management consulting, he has contributed to numerous European and international projects, including a wide range of consulting assignments across almost all countries in Latin America. His expertise in environmental and sustainability systems has been applied in over 200 companies and organizations.

Marco Giraldo

As Managing Partner, Marco Giraldo brings extensive experience from various areas of the tourism industry. He began his career with a Bachelor’s degree in Hotel and Hospitality Management and went on to hold several positions in sales management. As the tourism sector began to rethink its direction, he chose to focus on sustainability and help shape new standards. His work in CSR consulting, as well as in sales and marketing, led him to his current role at TourCert, which focuses on the certification of tourism businesses and project management in international development cooperation.
